***Statement***

As we celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, we honor women who continue to leave indelible marks on every aspect of our society. From culture to the economy, from politics to healthcare and the armed services, from our family and personal lives to the most expansive and pertinent issues facing our nation, women’s vast contributions at every level of society deserve our recognition each, and every day. San Francisco holds a place of distinction with women leaders in both private and public life who continue to advance opportunities for the next generation of young women and girls. From San Francisco’s role in hosting the first suffrage march in 1908 to producing the first woman Vice President Kamala D. Harris, women in leadership serve as role models in our diverse communities and on the national stage for people of all ages to look up to, to spark our collective imagination and inspire us to advance the progressive causes that have shaped history here in San Francisco and beyond.

We stand in solidarity with women as we fight to protect reproductive rights, advance economic and racial justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, constitutional equality and to end violence against women of all ages. For the innumerable sacrifices and contributions that women make, may we continue this work so that all entry points to our society, its culture and economy may be open, inclusive and accessible. Happy Women’s History Month!
